DAVID HOCKNEY

I went to see David Hockney's work at the Royal Academy of Arts over Easter. His use of vivid colours in his paintings is really striking when seeing them up close and I was particularly captivated by his recent work on an iPad. The range of marks he was able to create on the iPad really allowed him to add detail whilst describing the textures in the landscapes.

THE ANCIENT ASSASSINS

These are my paper toys which I created for my university project. They are a group of war veterans who are OAPs during the day and assassins by night.

PAPER TOYS

My new project is to create my own set of paper toys so to get me in the paper making spirit I printed some existing templates off and assembled them. Here is Ralph with his formula one car!

NOMERZ

Nomerz is a street artist who uses derelict buildings in Russia to create faces. He uses features of the buildings to build up the faces which makes them quirky and witty.

WILLlIAM KENTRIDGE

William Kentridge is a South African artist who does a mixture of prints, drawings and animated films. I was very captivated by his use of charcoal and how he has used this material to create very dramatic and atmospheric pieces.

SEEING DOUBLE

This is one of my final pieces for the seeing double project. Created using inks.

TWINS

My current project is titled seeing double but my project is specifically about twin rivalry and also their shared identity. During the first week I was generating ideas and then moving on to develop these ideas by working out layout, composition and finally media.

V&A POSTERS

For my current project I am producing four banners and a poster for an exhibition on shoes at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Here is some of my development work.  

SHOES, SHOES, SHOES

To create these studies of shoes I took inspiration from Elizabeth Perry and used line to create shape and tone. With this and a thoughtful composition I was able to create some interesting studies of shoes.

ELIZABETH PERRY

After the lecture for my new project on primary research I was really interested in Elizabeth Perry's work and decided to look at more of her work. Her use of line to show shape, pattern and tone allows her to create very dramatic illustrations.
