RENEWABLE ENERGY WEBSITE

The brief was to design a contemporary and user friendly website which highlights the unique and quality services offered by Thomas Armstrong Renewable Energy. The purpose of my website design is to guide potential customers through exactly how Thomas Armstrong could help them, resulting in them making contact with the company. To deal with some of the more complicated pieces of information I used info graphics instead of figures which highlights and breaks up some of the information.

FOOTBALL TYPE

Football and type are two of my favourite words so when I came across this I was overjoyed. This book celebrates both typography and football and is the work of designer Rick Banks aka Face37. It was almost two years in the making and this limited edition of 1000 books comes with its own bespoke cover. This beautiful book is excellent for football obsessed designers just like me!

LAIDLAW'S BRANDING

Over the past two weeks I've been busy designing some branding for my latest University project. Paul Laidlaw (you may have seen him on Bargain Hunt) is opening up his very own auction house right here in Carlisle and needs some branding. So it's been left in the very capable hands of the third year graphic designers at the University. The symbols I designed below are based on hallmarks and makers marks. The abstracted symbols combined with vibrant colours captures some of the energy and excitement during an auction. I have applied my branding across a range of stationery, website and hanging banner.

BRANDING INSPIRATION

Yesterday was the first day back in the studio after our summer break. Our first project is all about branding so I went to a great source of branding inspiration http://brandingidentitydesign.tumblr.com. If you love exciting logo design, letterheads and business cards take a look. Here's a flavour of whats on offer!

UNI SUMMER PROJECT

Over the summer I decided to tackle a 'cut it out' project given to me by my university. I have also recently been on an amazing holiday to New York and so decided to combine the two. Using just card and a sharp scalpel I got cutting and somewhere along the way ended up with this. Each page has a silhouette of something I did or saw on that day of the holiday.

BIRTHDAY - LOUISE'S 21ST

A few days ago it was my friends 21st Birthday. I've seen some great vinyl clocks around but decided to make my own so that I could personalise it. It even came with its own handmade box!

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?

Have you spotted the face on my Mum's plant pot? Nice afro!

BIRTHDAY CARD - FIONA

It was recently my friend Fiona's birthday so out came the scissors, glue, card and some old magazines. A few hours and some careful cutting later, this is what I produced. Using the magazines allowed me to create an explosion of multicoloured butterflies!

Fiona is also a keen baker so as part of her present I decided to try my hand at making some personalised cupcake toppers. Not bad if I do say so myself!
